This is a 13-month (including a “Jack” month) calendar poster series inspired by various Pixies songs and albums.

The research behind this project includes multiple 4AD designs created by Vaughan Oliver, which aim to mimic his “first thought” approach to poster design. An example of this is the iconic “Here Comes Your Man” song image that features a bull terrier. This image was chosen simply because that is what “Here Comes Your Man” made the designer think of.

To practice this approach, while listening to the Pixies, I wrote down several initial thoughts that were generated by the simple sounds, the lyrics, and the feelings attached to the music.

All of my processes for each poster were very experimental and handcrafted, intending to achieve a successful design even with limited materials.
